New phone technologies pose major challenge for 911 service 
EDMONTON — A call comes in to the 911 centre. “I can’t breathe! I think I’m having a …” The line goes dead. If the unconscious caller is on a land-line phone, their address is instantly displayed on the 911 operator’s computer screen and an ambulance is dispatched.
